  10. Since no one seems to want to bring our laws in line with the Bill of
  11. Rights, but no one wants to admit that either, maybe we need to rewrite the
  12. B of R slightly to fit the current agenda. Here's what I recommend in
  13. place of the original ten amendments:

  16. Amendment the First
  17.  
  18. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
  19. prohibiting the free exercise thereof, unless the religion is definable as
  20. a "cult." Neither shall it usurp the duty of universities to abridge the
  21. freedom of speech, nor prohibit the freedom of the press unless it is used
  22. in a manner which any Citizen shall find offensive, nor prohibit the right
  23. of the lobbyists to assemble, and to bribe the government for the redress
  24. any and all grievances, real or imagined.

  26. Amendment the Second
  27. A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,
  28. the right of the people to keep and bear arms.... ha ha, just kidding.
  29.  
  30. Amendment the Third
  31. No soldier shall, in times of peace be quartered in any house, as he would
  32. be AWOL if he were.
  33.  
  34. Amendment the Fourth
  35. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses papers and
  36. effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated,
  37. and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath,
  38. affirmation, or anonymous tips by paid informants, and particularly
  39. describing the place to be searched and a realistic appraisal of the value
  40. of the property should the police choose to seize and auction it.

  42. Amendment the Fifth
  43. No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous
  44. crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in
  45. cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in
  46. actual service in time of war, public danger, or drug hysteria, nor shall
  47. any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of
  48. life or limb unless he shall be a Caucasian policeman who really should
  49. been convicted the first time; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case
  50. to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life without appeals
  51. far in excess of anyone's idea of "due process," liberty without due
  52. process, or property without an anonymous tip, nor shall private property
  53. be taken for private use unless the new establishment can be expected to
  54. pay high enough property taxes to offset the cost of just compensation.

  56. Amendment the Sixth
  57. In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a
  58. speedy* and public trial by an impartial** jury of the State and district
  59. wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been
  60. previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause
  61. of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him unless
  62. feminists object; to have a compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in
  63. his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense and/or
  64. plea bargain.

  66. Amendment the Seventh
  67. In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed the
  68. 1791 value of twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be
  69. preserved, and no fact tried by a jury shall be otherwise re-examined in
  70. any court of the United States unless a death sentence shall have been
  71. recommended, than according to the rules of the common law. Fortunately
  72. for the IRS, tax code has nothing to do with common law.

  74. Amendment the Eighth
  75. Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor
  76. cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.***
  77.  
  78. Amendment the Ninth
  79. The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be
  80. construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. That is
  81. Congress' job.
  82.  
  83. Amendment the Tenth
  84. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor
  85. prohibited to it by the States, are up for grabs.
  86.  
  87. * For the purposes of this document, "speedy" shall be defined as
  88. "commencing within ten (10) years of the defendant's arrest or accusation,
  89. whichever comes later."
  90.  
  91. **For the purposes of this document, "impartial" shall be defined as
  92. "able to convince both lawyers that he is partial to their respective
  93. cause, and also able to convince a judge of his intention to waive his
  94. right to nullification of laws deemed to be unjust or inappropriately applied."
  95.  
  96. *** The definitions of "excessive," "cruel," and "unusual" shall be subject
  97. to the interpretation of the legislative body which shall pass the law
  98. mandating the bail, fine, or punishment in question. Thus Congress shall
  99. legislate no punishments which the same Congress considers to be excessive,
  100. cruel, or unusual.
